Originally a pilot by profession, Greg fell in love with yachting while he was flying through the Bahamas with some friends 25 years ago. Together they chartered a 45’ Beneteau sailboat from Moorings. He has been organizing and skippering yachts now for 15 years and with his passion for travel, has done this around the world. His experience as an avid yachtsman and accomplished pilot has been further enhanced with his sales and marketing skills as a business development manager. His brokerage JETS & YACHTS in Mississauga provides consulting and brokerage services to clients. His experience crewing, chartering, and owning a boat in a charter program has given him diverse knowledge that he enjoys sharing with people. Developing and managing Fractional programs over the last 20 years has given him a broad and essential knowledge on how to operate a Fractional Program successfully. Frequently attending boat shows and cruising some of the best boating destinations in the world keeps him current with the latest products and trends. His passion for boating comes through in the articles he writes, speaks, and blogs about.
As a member of the IYBA International Yacht Brokers Association, he is regarded as an expert in the industry and upholds the highest standards of doing business. Greg has trained as a professional Yacht Captain - YachtMaster 200 GT rating. With his prior commercial pilot training and understanding of aircraft management and operations, his focus on safety carries over to his role managing yachts. Maintained an Operational role Managing the Sailtime fleet in the GTA with base locations in Toronto, Port Credit, and Oakville. With 7 boats in the program from 2008 to 2012, the Franchise was then sold to a yacht dealer in Port Credit.
From 1999 to 2003 Greg helped launch OurPlane, a Fractional Ownership, and Membership program for private pilots initially in Toronto and then expanding to other cities across Canada and The USA. The fleet consisted of general aviation aircraft from manufacturers like Cessna, Piper, Cirrus, and Beechcraft. Aircraft was purchased new from dealers or directly from the factory.
In 2003 Greg helped launch Airsprint in Toronto and southwestern Ontario. A Fractional Ownership business using executive type business aircraft. The experience garnered facilitating business aircraft sales and overseeing operations took his perspective to the next level. Dealing with high-level executives and the corporate world, opened up a whole new dimension in business.
In 2018 YACHT Solutions was established as a dealer for the Ontario region for Bavaria Yachts and launched the Fractional Program at the Toronto Boat Show in January 2018. Regrettably, Bavaria Yachts from Germany went into bankruptcy in April 2018 and therefore no boats were delivered. The Schaefer Yachts available today are a superior product with shorter production times and excellent factory support.
