Course Description
This course offers a practical and engaging introduction to safe lifting practices for marina operators, supervisors, and employers across Ontario. Designed to support compliance with provincial legislation, it provides a clear, easy-to-understand framework for managing lifting operations with confidence.

Participants will explore key principles and regulatory requirements related to industrial cranes, lift trucks, mobile boat hoists, and hydraulic trailers, with real-world examples drawn from marina and boatyard environments. Common lifting tasks involving forklifts, cranes, boat hoists, and travel lifts are discussed, with a strong focus on recognizing hazards and making informed decisions in day-to-day operations.

The course empowers participants with the knowledge needed to promote safer workplaces, protect staff and equipment, and approach lifting activities with greater awareness and confidence.

Note: Employers must supply site-specific training, as required by the definition of competency on all varied and unique lifting devices found in the field.
